Vrooom special with a surprise visit from a fully-vaccinated Asmus Tietchens, which nicely makes up for our cancelled edition in March last year. Asmus Tietchens is a living legend of German electronic avant-garde music.
Then there's another Cantos Deus "-extended" show, where the choirboys will dive into the topic of Christian anarchism alongside special guests Lucija Gregov & Tisa Herlec.
Take note: this will be our first time at the new New Grounds venue, the monumental former school building.

┆ASMUS TIETCHENS┆de
Asmus Tietchens (1947) is one of the most important and unique figures in non-academic electronic music and sound manipulation. The Hamburg-based composer has made more than 80 albums worldwide and has collaborated with many different sound artists. His music draws on various musical genres; electronic (both high and low-brow), minimalism and classic. In 1980 he released his first solo album "Nachtstücke", followed by a series of albums containing rhythmic and harmonic music for the renowned Sky label ("Biotop", "Spät Europa", etc.). These fairly melodic synth tunes almost seem an abberation in light of the later shift towards 'industrial', as first witnessed on "Formen Letzter Hausmusik" (1984, United Diaries) and the meticulous sound manipulations he is known for today. Tietchens continues to explore the posibilities of specific sound sources (ranging from water sounds to pure sine wave tones). His work is rooted in a deeply sceptic gesture and inspired by philosopher E.M. Cioran, who is often quoted on his album covers. Tietchens has been awarded with the prestigious Karl Sczuka Prize of the Südwestrundfunk (SWR) twice.

┆CANTOS DEUS feat. special guests LUCIJA GREGOV & TISA HERLEC int'l
This summer sees "Christian No Wave band" Cantos Deus play a small series of shows based on the historical and societal theme Christian Anarchism. Cantos Deus is a collaboration between theologist/performer Jacco Weener and
Rotterdam underground artists Bruno Ferro Xavier Da Silva and Lukas Simonis. As a trio they attempt to make a statement about the language and musical expression of religion.
For each of these shows, they invite two artists to create a performance together around this theme. For this show the invitees are Tisa Neza Herlec and Lucija Gregov.
Lucija Gregov is a Croatian cellist, improviser and artist whose work explores and describes new sonic landscapes. Adding to her instrumental cello practice, she integrates analogue synthesizers and processed field recordings to her compositions.
Tisa N. Herlec is a Slovenian vocalist who plays with language and imagination. She is active in a variety of media;  writing, improvising, speaking, organizing, painting and assembling - preferably collectively.
